Thought I'd introduce the last member of our family. This is Bamse. Our dearly departed Lab Mix was called Bjørn. Those that know Danish understand that it means bear, and he was kind of furry like a bear. He was a sweet dog, but big and he scared Loryn with his loving power...he disappeared just after Christmas '08... He had disappeared once before, but some one had kept him. I hope the same happened this time too.
Anyway, Bamse was adopted almost two years ago. Bamse means teddy bear. I was thinking that I'd like and inside lap dog. I looked on pet finder.com and did not see any thing that caught my eye locally. Because of my allergies ( Bjørn gave me hives when he licked me... he was very loving , he'd lick my hands and arms all of the time.) . I was thinking that I'd like and inside lap dog. The Lake Charles shelter had a funny small bow legged white dog listed, but he did not appeal to me. He was funny looking and already 2 years old. I read that they would call you if a dog matching your wants became available so I went in to register. I have never had allergies from poodle mixes, I had a cock-a-poo and a Yorkie-poo before. So I asked about poodle mixes and they told me they had the perfect one...The funny looking white dog. So I took him out to the dog run to play with him. Up close I saw that he had recently been shaved clean, but he had very curly hair. So the next day I made Benny and Loryn go to have a look and we agreed we'd have him.
We later discovered that Bamse is a Bichon Poo . He is such a joy . He was 2 when we adopted him and he is so cute and sweet. He however has a bad habit of running, which is why he was lost and in the shelter in the first place. He can't be let out of the house with out him running away and across the busy highway to the little country store or next door to the school dumpsters near the cafeteria. He thinks it is a fun game, we don't agree. So he must be on a leash at all times outside, which is a shame as we have acres for him to roam. He is very cuddly and loves sleeping on Benny's feet at night. Loryn adores him as well .
Here is an earlier post about him.
